7th October 2009

Worked from home today :-)

Had to take the car back to the garage to have the brakes seen to...Loaded the bike into the back of the car, left the car and keys at the garage then cycled home...

18.1 miles with an average speed of 15.7 mph (It was cold and hard work cycling in to wind) , route here...

At lunch time the car was ready to be picked up, so I cycled to the garage (Indirectly) , loaded the bike into the car and drove home...

15.48 miles with an average speed of 18.3 mph (It was warmer and I had a bit of a tail wind for most of the ride :-), route here...

As I didnt have much time I had breakfast cereal for lunch...

I attempted to cook pork shoulder steaks, on a bed of vegetables and a cider sauce for evening meal...it failed (wifey and children ordered Indian takeaway for tea and I had breakfast cereal)

I headed of out for my pre-cycle club ride, it was wet, cold and miserable out, I headed out around the country lanes, I did about 12 miles before arriving at the cycle club at 7:30, I had a couple of tea's and a cherry bake-well the headed on back home at 8:30..

14.42 miles with an average speed of 16.7 mph, route here...

Total distance today was 48 miles...not bad for a wet and miserable work day...

5th October 2009

Was heading home early looking forward to a cycle ride! then I got an emergency phone call from work :-(

Got home and started making phone calls and PD'ing the problem....

Managed to break away and get out for a short cycle ride :-) I promised wifey I would only be 30 minutes....an hour later I got home :-)

I stopped along the way and took a couple of photies of the immense lighting....

I found the back-light on the Edge superb (set at 10%)...

The Garmin had the ride as 16.05 miles in 58 minutes with an average speed of 16.6 mph, the GPS trace can be found here...

When I got back home I ate tea and spent all evening on the phone....

4th October 2009

Decided to go out on the cycle club leisure ride today.

Although I still feel unwell, it was a short (40 mile) ride and I could always come straight back home if I started to find it to hard going.

I cooked porridge for breky then set of to the Chippenham Rugby Club at 9:10 for the 9:30 start, my aim today was NOT to race but just enjoy myself....

I ended up at the front....I ended up going quickly.... I did however force myself to stay of the large chain ring. I almost weakened a couple of time, going down hill...but I resisted the urge to change up gears :-)

We arrived at the garden centre cafe at about 11 (I was feeling good whilst riding, but when we stopped I started feeling run down..), I had a nice pot of tea and a bacon sarnie, when we started off again I perked up again!

We deviated from the route sheet in a big way on the way back to Chippenham, on the main road I had enough of spinning away like a loony, so I eventually gave in and changed up onto the big ring.

The Garmin had the ride as 40.57 miles in 2 hours 29 minutes with an average speed of 16.3 mph, the GPS trace can be found here...

I have to admit I started to get used to the spinning and the hills certainly were a lot easier!

I spent most of the afternoon reading (Dan Brown - The Lost Symobol...I expect to finish it today :-) I am now cooking Roast Pork for tea :-)

3rd October 2009

Didn't get up early and didn't go for a walk!

Instead I lit the fire and warmed up in front of it :-)

At 12 I decided that I couldn't sit on my arse all day, cold or no cold I was going out for a cycle ride!

It was wet, cold and windy! Autumn has arrived in Wiltshire :-(

I set of on the Peugeot for a nice easy ride, wasn't sure how far I would go, but as I got going I warmed up nicely and actually started to feel better!

I ended up doing 26.16 miles in 1 hour 38 mins with an average speed of 15.9 mph, GPS trace here...

When I got back home I showered n changed had soup for lunch...now spending the afternoon chilin in front of the fire and TV :-)

2nd October 2009

I have got a cold :-(

Decided to not go for a cycle ride today, instead I have lit the fire and am chillin…

Plan is to go for a walk in the morning and a short cycle in the afternoon.

On a plus note I no longer have to go to work on Sunday, I am just on call in the afternoon, so I may get out for a ride in the morning :-)
